Tapping Head:
Procunier ~ Tapping Head with precision 1.5 mm lead screw designed to eliminate axial thrust, 6 cm (2.375 in) total
lead screw travel.
Concentricity:
Tapping head to specimen table is factory aligned. Specimen nut is centred on I.D. by pilot plug prior to locking in
place. Critical alignment is easily assured with the use of the high tolerance test samples and centering tools.
Torque Monitoring:
Load cell monitors torque produced on test nut blank during testing. The data acquisition system allows user to select
initial and final points on the torque trace for determination of average torque values produced during the test. The
resultant average torque values are plotted and compared to a reference for determining efficiency of the fluid. With
this data the user can rank fluids. Tool life and machinability of materials.
Software:
Falex Data Acquisition Program acquires the test data and provides digital and graphic presentations. Tests can be
directly compared by plotting percent efficiency or torque versus operation. Software performs line fitting statistical
calculation of data to distinguish tool wear.
Specimens:
Nut: Controlled metallurgy and surface finish, 16-25 in. I.D. held ¡¾.00015 in. Square to base .0005 in. Available from a
wide range of materials in sizes for cut or formed thread.
Tap: 10 x 1.5 mm cutting or forming tap. Specifically made to high precision specimen tolerances and metallurgy.
