Features and specifications
 
Specimens:
Four line contact. Rotates ¨ù " diameter test pin (journal) against two ¨ö" diameter vee blocks (bearings).
 
Loads:
Spring type dual range gage applies from 200 to 3000 lbs. Direct load, ¡¾2% full scale accuracy, (4500 lb. reference load), approximately 3000,000 psi maximum average hertz stress. Spring type low load gage applies from 200 to 800 lbs ¡¾2% full scale direct load providing improved accuracy when testing at these loads. Electronic load with digital display, two ranges available, either 3000 lb. direct load gage or 1000 lb. direct load gage.
 
Speeds:
Standard spindle speed is 290 ¡¾10 rpm (18.98 fpm).
 
Wear:
Micrometer type system allows rate of wear measurement during test and total wear.
 
Torque:
Indicating direct gage (0 to 150 in.lb ¡¾2% full scale accuracy) or recording measurement and display system (0 to 100 in.lb, ¡¾2% full scale accuracy).
 
Environments:
Liquid or dry tests. Liquid heater with manual control to 150¡Æ C. (302¡Æ F).

Falex Data Acquisition Programme
PLEASE NOTE: The data acquisition system is an integrated system for acquiring test data on the Falex Pin and Vee block Test Machines. Use of the computer for other than intended design may affect warranty or equipment performance. Equipment should be stored and operated in an air conditioned environment.
 
STANDARD FALEX TEST SPECIMENS
 
Each Falex test requires one set of test specimens, consisting of two V-Blocks, one Test Pin and one Shear Pin.
 
F-1500-50A Complete Sets:
Standard Falex Test Specimens include two V-Blocks of AISI 1137 Steel, one #8 Test Pin of SAE 3135 Steel and one shear pin ASTM Spec. B-16. These specimens conform to ASTM Standards D-2670, D-2625 and D-3233.
 
F-1500-50B Complete Sets:
Same as F-1500-50A only with #10 pins substituted for #8 pins.
 
F-1500-51 Standard Falex V-Blocks:
AISI 1137 Steel, 96¡Æ block angle, Rc 20-24, 10 rms maximum.
 
F-1500-52 Standard Falex #8Test Pin (Journal):
SAE 3135 Steel, Rb 87-91, 10 rms maximum
 
F-1500-53 Standard Falex #10 Test Pin (Journal):
SAE 3135 Steel, Rb 100-104, 10 rms maximum.
 
F-1500-54 Standard Falex Shear Pins:
¨ö Hard yellow brass (ASTM Spec. B-16), Per Bag of 50.
